My Schedule:
All school days from 8:35am-3:50pm

About Guidance:
As the school counselor, I work with all students here at WAEC in a variety of ways. At some grade levels I do classroom lessons (feelings, conflict resolution). I also work with small groups called Lunch Bunches (anxiety, social skills, anger). Any student referred by a teacher or parent may participate in one of these groups during his or her lunch period 1 day per week. I also meet with some students individually (this is usually at the request of a parent or teacher). My role in the school is to support all students emotionally and socially in whatever capacity works best for his or her needs.

I am a member of our school's Olweus Team. Olweus is an anti-bullying program used in schools all over the world. WAEC follows anti-bullying rules and encourages character education of all students. I am also a member of our school's Student Centered Intervention Team (SCIT). Teachers and parents may refer a student to be discussed by this team for academic or behavioral concerns. The aim is to understand where a student is struggling and set up supports wherever possible.

Other Programs Available to Students:
  • WASD has a partnership with Sarah A. Reed Children Center where our students are able to participate in their School-Based Clinic. Students are paired with a therapist that they meet with one on one here at school. Please contact me for a referral or more information.
  • WASD has a partnership with The Highmark Caring Place where students are able to participate in Peer Grief Support Groups. Please contact me for more information.
  • I arrange for several special guests to appear in the building throughout the school year. Some of them include: The Barber National Institute's "Kids on the Block", The Crime Victims Center's "Good Secrets Bad Secrets", educational presentations from Coalition Pathways, as well as an anti-bullying assembly.
  • WAEC participates in Red Ribbon Week every October. Schools across the country use this week to teach students about drugs and alcohol and promote healthy choices. During this week all WAEC students hear from a Pyramid Healthcare employee.

 About Me:

I am a life-long resident of Erie and I really like this area. I enjoy hiking with my dog, kayaking at Presque Isle, and snowboarding at Peek n Peak.  I have always loved kids which is why I got my Masters of School Counseling at Edinboro University, got certified through the state of PA as a school counselor, and am a Nationally Certified Counselor.

My role here at WAEC is to be a support for every student and parent/guardian.  Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns!
