Wattsburg Area School District strives to provide a variety of support services to the students in the school district. These services range from on-going teacher interventions within the classroom environments, to pull-out services and programs, and building level teams to provide support. The goal of support services is to provide students the supports, programs, and services that they need to be successful within the school environment.

About Student Services

The following is a brief description of the support services that are available within the Wattsburg Area School District.  Click each heading for more information.

Special Education Services

Wattsburg Area School District ensures a Free Appropriate Public Education is available to all students who are eligible for special education services under the Chapter 14 regulations and Individuals with Disabilities Education Act. Every student with a disability enrolled in the Wattsburg Area School District shall be provided with quality education programs that meet the student’s needs for educational, instructional, transitional, and related services. The district’s special education programs shall be designed to comply with state and federal regulations, aligned with school district goals, and will integrate special education programs within the regular education curriculum and in the educational setting that is the least restrictive environment as possible.

Section 504 Accommodations

Wattsburg Area School District complies with state and federal regulations to provide a free appropriate education to students who qualify for services under Chapter 15 regulations and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act. The district develops individual plans for eligible students with disabilities to ensure their access to the school and classroom environment, curriculum, and other areas as determined reasonable by the team and the parents.

Student Assistance Program (SAP)

The primary goal of the Student Assistance Program (SAP) is to help students who are experiencing academic and/ behavioral difficulties that are barriers to the student’s ability to be successful in the learning environment. SAP provides support in each building for students and their families. Services that students may receive through SAP may include mental health assessments/referrals, individual counseling, group counseling, and/or a referral to drug and alcohol counseling.
