Free Student Meal Program

IMPORTANT NEWS ABOUT USDA

GRAB AND GO MEAL DISTRIBUTION

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has extended several waivers and flexibilities for school meals for the 2021-22 school year.

ALL students enrolled at Wattsburg Area School District and in the district's cyber program are eligible for free meals whether learning is in the classroom or virtually.

Students in the classroom will be able to exit the bus (or get dropped off) and go to the cafeteria or the “gathering areas” for breakfast.   Lunch will be served in the cafeteria.   Student lunch accounts will only be charged if a student wishes to purchase ala carte items like milk, water, juice, chips or ice cream (when available).

If your student is enrolled in the district’s cyber program and would like to pick-up bundled meals (Breakfast and Lunches for multiple days), please contact Vicki Bendig at 814-824-3400 x4533 or by e-mail to [email protected] and arrangements can be made for a curbside pick-up time.

The district receives funding for these “free” meals from the Federal Government based on a per meal basis.  Please encourage your children to consider eating breakfast and lunch at school and spread the word to other students’ families.

Please feel free to contact Vicki Bendig, Business Administrator at vicki.ben[email protected] or at 814-824-3400 x4533 if there are any questions.
