Consumerism for fifth and sixth grade students, provides a wide variety of information, tips, tricks and techniques, aimed at creating a well informed consumer. Topics to be studied in this class include; label reading and interpreting, merchandising, unit pricing, marketing, financial management, financial resources, smart shopping, consumer rights and responsibilities, and advertising. This is a creative and hands on class. the students will create a unique (fake) food product. They will create a label, a commercial, and marketing plan for the product. Hopefully students will develop wise shopping skills they will use for life.
