Welcome to 8th
grade English Language Arts. I am looking forward to a wonderful school year. I’ve had the opportunity to discuss with students the expectations for 8th grade ELA, and
encourage you to talk with your child to guarantee both parents and students
are aware of the rules, expectations, and responsibilities to ensure a
successful school year.
As a teacher, I understand the importance of the school experience for every student and my role as a teacher and model. Therefore, I promise to teach the necessary concepts to your child, try to be aware of the needs of your child, and communicate with you regarding your child’s progress.
As a student, you must understand the importance of your education. It will help you become a better person. Your parents will be there to help you, but ultimately, you are the one who has to do the work. Therefore, in order to be successful, you must return completed homework on time, report to school on time and ready to work (unless you’re sick), follow school rules and be responsible for your own behavior, and pay attention/ask for help when needed.
And finally, to the parents. You play a vital role in your child’s growth and success. Your participation in your child’s education will help him/her achievement and attitude. We ask that you ensure that your child has a quiet place to study, encourage him/her to complete homework, make sure your child gets to school on time and is ready to learn, and attend Open House/Parent Conferences and keep lines of communication open.
