Teaching career... Welcome! My name is Madelyn Simmons and I am the Emotional Support Teacher at the Elementary Center. I love working with children and find their honesty and humor infectious. I have been teaching for 10 years. I started in a local Early Intervention program working with preschool aged children with emotional concerns. From there I taught middle school students placed in Alternative Education. When that program disbanded, I took a position as a Secondary English/Special Education teacher at a local Charter School. Currently I am in my 7th year at Wattsburg and I have taught regular education to 4th graders and Special Education, K-4. Currently I have students in every grade which affords me the opportunity to partner with teachers and students in diverse settings to ensure a successful school year. In my spare time... I privately tutor students and give piano and guitar lessons for beginners. I love art in all forms. My hobbies include playing the piano, writing songs, playing the guitar, painting and drawing, writing and creating. I also enjoy home improvement projects, refurbishing old furniture, etc. Credentials... Elementary and Special Education, B.S. -Edinboro University Special Education, M.S. -Mercyhurst College.
