Child Development explores the development of the child from birth to age five.  Students will learn about a child's physical, intellectual, social, emotional, and moral development.  Students will learn how to handle children to prevent harm to the child.  They will learn how to talk to children to promote optimal self image and positive disciplinary results.  Students will discover why play and interaction is important to a child's development.  Students will explore cognitive development and create a children's book, which they will present to the class. This is an introductory class and will hopefully assist the student with babysitting duties and simply the job of being an older sibling.
