Thank you for your interest in volunteering your time and talents to assist our students! This web page will provide you with step-by-step instructions to become a volunteer in our District. If you have questions, please contact your building principal or the athletic director.

Apply to be a Volunteer
To get started, please download and complete the Volunteer Application.
You will need to apply for several Required Clearances (certifications) to be submitted with your completed Volunteer Application.
Follow the step-by-step instructions below to apply for your required certifications.
Once you have received all of the required certifications, submit copies to the appropriate school building office or the athletic director along with a completed volunteer application. Don’t forget to take a valid photo ID as the office will need to retain a photo copy in their files.
Applying for Required Clearances
ACT 34 - PA Criminal History
Clicking on the link above will take you to the Pennsylvania State Police Website. You can apply for the Act 34 certification online. There is no cost for this certification.
ACT 151 - PA Child Abuse History
Clicking on the link above will take you to the Child Welfare Portal. You can apply for the Act 151 certification online. There is no cost for this certification.
ACT 114 - FBI Federal Criminal History (Fingerprints)
Obtaining this certification is a TWO-STEP process.
STEP 1: Follow the link above to go to the COGENT website. Click on the Pennsylvania Department of Education page. This will take you to the Registration page.
IMPORTANT: You must register BEFORE you can be fingerprinted! The cost for the clearance is $27.00 and can be paid for online. Money orders or cashier’s checks payable to 3M Cogent will also be accepted on site (Fingerprint Location). NO CASH, PERSONAL CHECKS and NO ELECTRONIC PAYMENTS for background checks will be accepted at the fingerprint sites.
STEP 2: After you have preregistered online, proceed to one of the
Fingerprint Locations in Erie County:
Volunteers should be aware that recent changes to the Child Protective Services Law (CPSL) categorize school volunteers as Mandated Reporters. Although the law does not require volunteers to be trained, the District strongly encourages all volunteers to complete free online training on the requirements of Mandated Reporting which can be accessed here: Pennsylvania Child Welfare Resource Center.
