Mission of SAP:

-Identify student behaviors that hinder the learning process.
-Gather pertinent information about student performance in the school environment.
-Plan with parent and student to determine appropriate accommodations/intervention strategies to maximize student success.

What is SAP?

The SAP team is comprised of trained, professional staff members. The SAP team identifies students experiencing difficulty in the classroom due to problems such as alcohol or drug use, mental health issues, or other concerns that are presenting a barrier to learning. The SAP team receives referrals from parents/guardians, teachers, students, and staff. Once the referral is received, the team gathers information to assess the nature and extent of the concern. The team then develops a plan of intervention, action, and support which may include meeting with parents/guardians and/or the student, arranging an assessment with a drug and alcohol or mental health counselor, referrals to school programs, or referrals to social service agencies. The team monitors the student's progress to assess the need for ongoing or additional action. Participation in SAP is completely voluntary. It also requires written permission from a parent or guardian.

Confidentiality:

All SAP services are confidential, however, there are exceptions including cases involving suicidal behavior, sexual assault, a threat to the physical safety of others, or child abuse or neglect. As mandated reporters, members of the SAP team are legally required to report such occurrences
