Welcome to Information Technology Services

Dear Wattsburg Community:

A new school year brings new people and new technology to our buildings.

At our Elementary Center, we welcome a new staff member, Mrs. Cindy Cass. Mrs. Cass will assist our Elementary Center faculty, staff, and students with their day-to-day technology needs. You will also find some new computers and additional

software titles available on the Elementary Center computers.

At the Middle School, students in the science classrooms can now share their work digitally using their "hands on learning" grant provided Palm's through our new Bluetooth classroom network. There is more... our middle school Accelerated Reading and Star Reading software titles have been upgraded to web based versions; providing improved alignment to library resources. We will also open an additional computer lab at the middle school in September. This will allow our students much needed lab time to complete teacher projects and utilize our expanded Study Island program.

Seneca High School now offers expanded Wi-Fi network access. Coverage now includes places like our Library, auditorium, and lunch room. This year begins our second year as Certiport Testing Center for IC3 and Microsoft Office Specialist certifications.

District wide we have severall projects approaching completion for this school year. The district will begin a new district wide grade and attendance reporting system called ProgressBook. Parent and student access to our new ProgressBook portal is now available. Letters have been sent home for parents and students should have received a letter in homeroom. If you have any questions regarding the new system, please send email to itmanager@wasd.iu5.org.

Sincerely,

Robert J. LaPlaca
